Heart of Worship
by Michael W. Smith
When the music fades
All is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that's of worth
That will bless Your heart
I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart
All is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that's of worth
That will bless Your heart
I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it
When it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it
When it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
King of endless worth
No one could express
How much You deserve
Though I'm weak and poor
All I have is Yours
Every single breath
I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart
No one could express
How much You deserve
Though I'm weak and poor
All I have is Yours
Every single breath
I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm coming back to the heart of worship,
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
The more experiences we've had to go through, the more often we find ourselves saying, "Now I know better," or, "I'm getting better now."
So we find ourselves thirsting for more knowledge, hungering for more wisdom and yearning for more exposure and hands-on experiences. We begin to develop formulas, techniques and methodologies that make everything come together more efficiently.
But then, we begin to wonder, "What's wrong with me? I know better now, but why do I miss the times when I had to play everything by ear and tons of bravado? Why do I feel as if I am emptying inside?
You know why you are feeling what you are feeling right now? Maybe because you are. Slowly emptying inside, I mean.
More than all the knowledge and wisdom that this world can offer (and that's all good, by the way), in no way, shape or form must we forget what it's all about, who it's all about: it's all about JESUS.
It's all about You, Lord. Let everything that I do be an act of worship that pleases You. Connect me to Your heart in every thought, in every dream and every prayer. Connect every undertaking that these hands and feet offer in Your Name to Your Spirit. Connect me to You, Lord.
Because, really, it's all about YOU.
